Don Knabe
was first elected to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors in
November of 1996 and was re-elected in 2000 and 2004.
With both LAX and North America’s busiest port complex
within his district
(Port of Long Beach and Port of Los Angeles), Supervisor Knabe continues
to shepherd Los Angeles County’s interests in the forum
of international trade.
He is a Board member of the Asian Business League of Southern
California and started the first Asian International Business
Advisory Group in California two years ago. Supervisor Knabe was also instrumental
in developing a number of initiatives to expand the base of
commercial opportunities for small- and medium-sized businesses
— including, increased accessibility to County contracts
through the Office of Small Business web site.
Recently appointed to the Southern California Regional Airport
Authority and Southern California Regional Rail Authority
(Metrolink), Supervisor Knabe is also a member of the Large Urban County
Caucus of the National Association of Counties (NACo) and
serves on the Board of Directors for the Metropolitan Transportation
Authority (MTA). In addition to various other appointments
and commissions, Supervisor Knabe is an executive board member of the California
State Association of Counties (CSAC), member of the Asian
Business League, and L.A. Care Board of Governors.
Don
and his wife, Julie, have two sons, Curt and Matt. They are also
the proud grandparents of Kaitlyn Christy Knabe and Christy Ryann Knabe. |
